The impact of Geneva’s international sector presented to Grand Council deputies

The Fondation pour Genève, FER Genève and GEM – Groupement des Entreprises Multinationales today presented the outlines of the study on the impact of the international sector in Geneva, published last March.

It was an opportunity to highlight the importance of international activities for the entire region, particularly in economic terms. With more than 150,000 direct jobs, and nearly 221,000 indirect and induced FTE jobs, the international sector is a real pillar of Geneva’s economy, also benefiting local SMEs.

Geneva needs this international sector, which sustains its vitality and gives it a unique role within the Swiss Confederation. Switzerland needs these international activities, which put it in a privileged position on the international playfield. The world needs a place that is safe, stable, open to dialogue and that promotes the values of peace to discuss global issues and try to find solutions.

It is our duty to ensure that Geneva retains this key role, in particular by continuing our efforts to improve the framework conditions.
