The impact of the international sector presented to the CCIG

The international sector is essential for Geneva, Switzerland and the world

Demonstrating the importance of the international sector for our canton in figures, and recalling its role for Switzerland and the world, is more essential than ever. With this in mind, the Fondation pour Genève presented its study on the impact of the international sector in Geneva to members of the Geneva Chamber of Commerce, Industry and Services (CCIG), alongside the Groupement des Entreprises Multinationales.

The international sector as a whole directly accounts for almost 40% of jobs in Geneva, including 34,000 jobs in international organisations, NGOs and permanent missions. This ecosystem sustains many of Geneva’s businesses and gives our canton an international reputation that is vital to its attractiveness. It is therefore essential to preserve it.
